A reimagined site for health providers and organizations who want to participate in CMS programs, with the goal of increasing program enrollment.

Mission

The CMS Innovation Center was established by Congress in 2010 to identify ways to improve healthcare quality and reduce costs in public health.

Problem

Business needs: The website for the Center for Innovation hadn’t been updated since 2014 (apart from content updates). The site needed to utilize the new design system and tie in with existing APIs and applications.
User needs: 80,000 monthly visitors need to more easily access timely information for a more approachable experience.

Discovery

  • Quantitative: Google Analytics
  • Qualitative: Survey feedback through Voice of Consumer tool, accessibility audit, heuristics evaluation, information architecture audit, content audit and ROT analysis, interviews with stakeholders

Solution

  • Quick turnaround for MVP migration
  • UX artifacts, new IA, data repository
  • Wireframes and high-fidelity mockups that demo new layouts with a focus on wayfinding and scannability

Within 4 weeks, high-fidelity mockups were ready for user testing
